CCHC Cancer Awareness Program

More than 100 participants turned up to support the Chuuk Community Health Center (CCHC) Walkathon Event held on Saturday Oct 7 2023 as part of its community awareness program on early detection and treatment for breast cancer in both (fe)males in Chuuk State.

High school students joined in the awareness campaign to help spread the news about the importance of early screening to the wider community. The effort to educate young adults on early detection, treatment and referral mechanisms is an ongoing partnership between the Department of Health Services and the Department of Education in raising awareness through curriculum integration particularly in the Science discipline at school level.

The Lt. Governor: Hon. Mekeioshy William had conveyed the undying support of the Chuuk State administration for youth participation in cancer awareness programs and so reiterated the key message for the ‘Breast cancer awareness month 2023, “For the lives we can save and those we have lost, let this Breast Cancer Awareness Month be a moment of unity that rallies the country to end cancer as we know it. Together, we can give patients, survivors, and our families the care, hope, and support they deserve.” Kinisou chapwur.

The Final Schools to be Evaluated

CDOE Press – After several weeks of rigorous evaluation, the Pre-Accreditation process for all schools in Chuuk finally came to a successful completion on Monday to Tuesday, February 13-14, 2023. During this final phase, the accreditation teams visited and evaluated the remaining private schools in the region to ensure they meet the necessary criteria for operating within the Chuuk Education system.

The following private schools were visited and evaluated during this final phase: Xavier High School, St. Cecilia School, Berea Christian School, Saramen Chuuk Academy, and Seven Day Adventist. The teams conducted a comprehensive evaluation to determine if these schools meet the required standards and requirements for accreditation.

We express our sincere appreciation to all those who participated in this process, including the principals, teachers, communities, and the Chuuk Education Teams, for their dedication and commitment throughout the accreditation process. Their hard work and cooperation have been essential in ensuring that our schools provide quality education and meet the necessary standards. Once again, thank you all and well done!

Pre-Accreditation Process in Northern Namoneas

CDOE Press – From February 08-10, 2023, the second week of the Pre-Accreditation process continued with visits to Northern Namoneas. The following schools in this region were scheduled to be visited:

Day 1 of the Pre-Accreditation process

CDOE Press – On January 30th, 2023, the Pre-Accreditation process began with the objective of evaluating the readiness and compliance of several schools to operate within the Southern Namoneas schools. Accreditation teams were dispatched to assess whether the schools met the necessary requirements for commencing operations. A total of four teams were assigned to evaluate Sino Memorial School, Nechap Elementary School, Nukuno Elementary School, and West-Fefan Elementary School.

The purpose of the visit was to ensure that the schools were adequately prepared and meeting the necessary criteria for operating within the Southern Namoneas schools. The teams were tasked with conducting a comprehensive evaluation to determine if the schools met the standards and requirements for accreditation.

It is important to note that the Pre-Accreditation process is ongoing, and the work will continue in other schools in the Southern Namoneas region. The accreditation process is crucial in ensuring that schools provide quality education and meet the required standards set by the National Department of Education for all schools in FSM.
